Learn To Game is for boys and girls 7 and older with interested in learning the game of hockey.  This is a fantastic next step for those who have completed at least one session of Learn to Play but aren't quite ready for the time, cost, and commitment of joining a Rec or Travel team.

Each ice session will begin with 15 minutes of practice where we focus on basic skills, followed by 45 minutes of scrimmage time with instruction mixed in. We expect to have two groups (Younger and Older) who will share the ice, but have separate games.

The LTG program will consist of 16 ice sessions beginning on October 22 and running through March. Practice/game times will be on Sunday afternoons from 6:00-7:00pm at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Annex.

The cost is $220 and will include a Jr Thunderbirds jersey.

Full hockey gear is required to participate in LTG.   

We offer an equipment rental package at a cost of $50 plus a $100 deposit ($150 total). The $100 deposit will be refunded when you return the equipment. Our equipment includes a helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, shin pads and a jersey. Equipment rentals are provided on a first come first served basis.

Please note that skates are NOT guaranteed and are included based on our available inventory.  If we don't have skates for your player, rental skates will also be available at the start of each lesson at no cost, courtesy of the Annex. Rental skates must be returned at the end of each practice.

Good-fitting, quality skates can make a huge difference in your child’s enjoyment, so we strongly encourage all skaters to purchase their own pair.

Each Player must register first with USA Hockey and then return to this Registration Session to signup for the 2023-2024 Season.

• Step 1:  CLICK HERE to go to USA Hockey Registration and register your player(s). Be sure to PRINT and SAVE their confirmation code(s). Remember to register EACH of your players with USA Hockey. Each player must have their own unique USA Hockey confirmation number.
• Step 2:  Return to this registration and proceed. Later in this registration session you will need to enter the USA Hockey Confirmation Code that you received in Step 1.
